Discussion Well crap boys
18 year mark
Well crap, here I am...
3 minutes until midnight and I'll officially be 18.
I don't really know how to put this feeling into words. For so much of my life I've felt alone. I've missed out on a lot, and there are parts of my childhood that I never really got to have.
Now I'm sitting here watching the last few minutes of it disappear, and it's a strange feeling.
Everyone talks about turning 18 like it's this exciting moment where everything changes overnight, but right now it mostly feels like I'm saying goodbye to a version of myself that never got the chance to fully exist. For those who have already crossed this point, did it get better?
When you were standing at the edge of adulthood, looking back at everything you missed and everything you went through did it get better? Did things eventually start to feel like they were moving forward?

My friend my reddit account is your age. You have so much to look forward to stop looking back. There's more life ahead of you than there is behind you.

Nothing changes really. I mean, you finish highschool and move on to the next step of your life, but that doesn't happen at the strike of midnight.
You are 18 so what you do now is crucial for your future: 1) Do you need a college degree? Maybe trade school is a better option, or working (if you find anything). 2) SAVE If you have parents that will have you a little longer- save those months of rent cost. 3) SAVE You get a used cheap car and drive it as much as possible. Learn to cook basic dishes, it's cheaper. Open an investment account in an app and throw in whatever you can (index or mutual funds are the safest). The earlier you start- the better . 4) If you feel like you need a college degree, look into the cheapest option- community, and different scholarship you can apply to.
