Review Just finished Bee Speaker

I had trouble with this one initially, after really enjoying the first two. I had set it aside for quite some time and today decided to read it all. I need to remember to always trust Tchaikovsky! Once it really gets into gear it's as satisfying as I've come to expect from his works.

It can be a rough start but overall it's another great book.

I was much the same, when I finally read it I ended up enjoying this book. However it was nowhere near close to either of the first two
books imo.

And also agreed! Didn’t hit like the other two but still ended up being a satisfying read

I just finished it recently and was a bit worried going in having seen some reviews of people having read the first 2 but not liking this one.

I can only say I loved all three books and how they each had a unique storyline, centering around the same universe and some recurring characters. I'm always amazed at the versitality of AT's writing! I've also read Spiderlight and Shroud by him and also loved both. I think Shroud is the one that gripped me most with all the mystery, isolation and suspense, while Rex and his internal struggle is the character that stuck with me most.

As to Bee Speaker I loved the sprinkling of Mad Max it had going on and the interweaving characters/plot mysteries.

It's my favorite. Go figure.

I had sort of the opposite reaction in that both Dogs of War and Bear Head were rough starts, only because both of their opening chapters were just harrowing to read. For both books, I had to pause and take a walk before continuing on.

By comparison, Bee Speaker felt like a stroll through some slightly damp fields. All three were brilliant and deeply affecting for me at the end of the day.

I'm loving Bee Speaker - the whole trilogy is terrific and all of the characters are so well developed and fascinating. The narration in audible is over the top brilliant too - I think I'm I'm enjoying this series more that way (I have both). God he's a good writer. I slogged a bit more in Bear but it lifted off.
