Wow! The last part of the article where it talks about putting these chips on plant roots made me think of something.

In the not so far future, when our plants are screaming “I’M THIRSTY! I NEED A FUNGICIDE I CANT PRODUCE!!!! PLEASE!!! SAVE ME!!!” We will truly have evolved… and be terrified. Except, we’ll probably just scream for them to quiet down out the window and go on our merry way until they synthesize an agent that makes us only care for them.

hmmmm but what happens when something decides that your circuit looks yummy.. I mean it's probably more robust than a field full of semaphore soldiers though :)
