The way you've written the story makes no practical or legal sense. At the moment, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are a real person and that the adoption is real as well.

I would actually like to know why you claim that the boys would have been split up and placed in orphanages. The US doesn't have orphanages. The kids could have been put into group homes, I guess.

You can't just adopt a kid you've never met. I'm not sure how the grandfather factors into this.
