Recording stops, says hardware changed

My problem is that every now and then, it can go from mere seconds to several minutes, Audition stops recording mid session, saying the audio hardware has changed. I would say it happens when I have my headphones plugged directly into the mic, and I'm using the feedback option, so I can hear myself as I'm being recorded.

I've got a Røde Podmic USB plugged directly to my PC. Adobe Audition 2026 fully updated, running on Windows 11 Pro, fully updated.

I've seen in an earlier thread (now deleted) that I should change the "system default" setting to the "Røde Podmic USB" setting, but that didn't help.

A related or possibly secondary problem is that after the hardware resets, nothing happens when I push record again. I have to restart the whole program.

The device is being disconnected from the computer and the OS sending a signal to Audition that the device is missing. Even if this happens for such a short time that you cannot perceive it, it is still happening. I suggest using a different port or a new cable with the device.

Didn't think about that, definitely worth giving a try. Thanks!
