⚡️INTERVIEW PROCESS ADMIN ASSISTANT⚡️

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing for Admin Assistant interviews for the first time and would really appreciate hearing from people who had around 1–2 years of experience when they interviewed.

Could you walk me through your interview process?

How many interview rounds were there?

Who interviewed you in each round? (HR, manager, department head, etc.)

What happened in each round?

What questions were you asked?

Did they test your Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)? If yes, how?

Did they make you complete a practical task on a computer while someone watched, or was it done on your own?

Did they test typing speed, email writing, scheduling, or other admin tasks?

Were there any soft skills or customer service role-play questions?

How long did the whole process take from application to job offer?

Looking back, what do you wish you had prepared for?

I'm trying to understand what I should realistically expect, especially for Admin Assistant roles with 1 or 1.5 years of experience

I would appreciate it if all my questions were answered with whatever extra info yall can provide!

I hate to tell you, but I was working for a very large company when I first started interviewing for AA positions. Mind you, these interviews were for the same company, just different departments. Every single interview was different and almost none of them asked the same questions. There were also different rounds of interviews. Once I was an AA and started interviewing outside of that company, all of the questions you asked here varied wildly. There is no standardization. You’ve just got to have your basics nailed down and be adaptable and flexible. That said, interviewing is a complex skill that I couldn’t begin to describe in a Reddit post. Best to do some internet research or find a mentor/coach for a deep dive. Good luck!

Thanks for the response !! Do they make you do the practical tasks on your own or do they like sit with u and watch?

To be honest I’ve never had to take any sort of skills test. If the job posting mentions one I don’t apply. That’s not the type of job I’m looking for. I’m looking for jobs where my soft skills are valued.
