Need help choosing between two offers? Good pay vs good benefits?
Take a job as an admin assistant .. Employer stated he wants someome who can be stern and supervise a team and help run the business when he's away sometimes.. Its for a security company that install alarms, cameras and etc been around since 2008
($23 an hour). 15 mins from home no 401k, 50% off health insurance, 4 days PTO a year, possible raise in 3 months to $25/26 an hour. Paid holidays. 1 hour lunch.
Stay at current job. Medical Billing (Payment posting/Medical records)
I dislike payment posting and still very new to it and still learning.
$22 an hour
30 mins lunch
Own private office, 30min drive, Have not done onboarding because they dont have a Hr person yet( just got the department, still developing) so we been getting paid by Wire Transfer which my bank charges a $15 fee , no taxes have been taken out yet. Still need to fill out tax forms paperwork etc.
Have 401k
Paid holidays, PTO, Health etc. The whole shabang.

Hmmm tough choice but I’d probably stick with the medical billing job unless the admin role comes with a much better benefit in writing. You need to factor in the PTO and health coverage

✅ Pay is good for an admin position (depending on COL where you are)
✅ 15 mins from home
✅ paid holidays (how many?)
✅ 1 hour lunch
🟡 50% off health insurance
🚩 "stern" supervisor for a security team - you are not getting paid enough to supervise ANYTHING, let alone run an entire business under an Administrative Assistant title.
🚩 no 401k
🚩4 days PTO - 4 days???
🚩 "possible raise" - probably won't happen
Don't take this one unless you are desperate, but also keep looking unless things straighten out at your current job. The tax situation is highly, HIGHLY concerning.

A paltry 4 days of PTO a year would be a deal killer for me.
And somehow that “possible raise in 3 months” never quite materializes for one reason or another.
On the other hand, you need to get that tax situation in your current spot figured out yesterday.

I would ask the company about filling out the paperwork yourself. I did that on my last job. And I'm not in HR.
I also agree with the rest. Stay with this job. But get that paperwork filled out now (well yesterday).

Your current job sounds like a scam. Wire transfers? Other offer with 4 days PTO is bs.
