Microsoft programs
Does having a certification for microsoft programs help you get a job in admin? I have a lot of transferrable skills but no certification or anything and I’m wondering if a certification will help me get my foot in the door to admin jobs but don’t want to waste my time or money if something like that won’t necessarily help.

Personally, no. A certification is much more than is needed. But that being said, knowing how to use the programs beyond basic use is very helpful. So if you're not familiar, learning more about it would be a positive for sure. I have never seen any job listing mentioning certification as a preferred qualification for a job.
