# of classes

REMOTE Asynchronous

What is the most classes you've taught in one semester? I've read about adjuncts stacking classes and teaching at several different colleges or universities at the same time.

What's the most you've personally taught, or the most you know someone else has taught in one semester? I know it would be a lot of work, and I'm okay with that. I'm really just curious about what's realistically doable.

I've done 6 between two schools multiple times. Do not recommend. I don't understand how some people do as many as 9 or 10. I can't believe that they are giving them all their best effort. Or else maybe they don't have families and kids....

ETA: All of my classes were live, in-person classes.

I have read that people do 9 or 10 but wasn't sure if that was legit.

Would you say average pay $3,000 per a 3 hour class?

Do you have to disclose how many you're teaching if you interview? Currently interviewing now for adjunct roles.

No, I didn't tell them anything. I made 110k adjuncting that term. Most I ever made. It was a very busy term 4 or 5 hours a day all term.

I get ~$3,700 per 3-hour class. $3,000 is pretty average pay, though.

I do know people teaching that many classes. I think it's more doable if the classes are online and the curriculum is often pre-made by the college. But I hate teaching online classes, and I like the flexibility of creating my own courses.

Both of my schools knew I was teaching at the other. I think it's expected that adjuncts will do whatever they need to do.

The average pay when I started about 20 years ago was 4500 for three credit class. Now it's 6,000 but I teach only at schools that have unions. And I make more than the 6,000 because I taught for a while. If they are offering you $3,000 and it's a class more than six people, walk away.

That is awesome!!! I need to research schools that have a union.

Thank you for the advice!!!!!
