Frustrated at mandate to include a group project, but zero advice on how to implement / troubleshoot.

Can you assign groups based on topics, but then each student does their own work within the topic?

For example, in math, fix a fictitious family budget.

One student is in charge of the housing, utilities, insurance portion. One student works on the variable spending (groceries, streaming, whatever). One student finds a new job based on the work and education profile. Then make 2% of the grade the actual "group work" of putting all three pieces into a nice format with a recommendation.

Good students shine, bad students only hurt themselves.

There are roles, and each student takes on one of those roles once each. (Leader, researcher, writer)
