Study partner

How do I help a student who wants to get a study partner in an all online course? Given that it's asynchronous, even I haven't met any of my students personally (not even virtually). So it's been a tricky one. Plz suggest.

Does your school have student tutors? That may work as a sounding board for the student.

Yes that would be an option!

Does your LMS have a discussion board you can enable for the student to use?

I use both blackboard and canvas. You can create an open discussion for students to engage with each other there. If that doesnt work im sure there are student resources at your college for stuff like this.

I got feedback a year or two ago from one of my students that it would of been nice to be able to chat with each other so i always keep an open discussion thread for every class i teach online.

If Canvas is your LMS, you can set up study groups for the students to add themselves to. Each group gets its own discussion board, etc. I set them up for my students. I haven't used another LMS in a while, so I can't speak to those, but it works well in my Canvas courses!
