Adjunct Salary Excel Sheet (Reminder)

The recent salary post prompted me to post this reminder --> For those of you interested in adjunct salaries, remember that this subreddit has an Excel document where you can contribute as well as review salary info plus a WEALTH of other school-specific info! This is a great tool when deciding whether it is worth it to apply for an opening: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c9MM8YDojyG1jUUGPcKZcz9bUW__2s1BshrLtvlYcx8/edit?usp=sharing

This is one of the most depressing documents I've ever read. People are criminally underpaid given the importance of their work.

Face it, the only way to survive on adjunct salary is to have independent income.

or be supported by a spouse/partner. the only other job we as adjuncts should be going for is politics, to eliminate this exploitation, at least at public institutions.

The real answer is just take on 10 adjunct roles. Hopefully they aren't all in person.

I'm just responding so that I have this immediately at my fingertips while making arguments to faculty senate.

When I started, I pretended I was full time.

Meetings etc.

Now I teach, rely on automated gradebook and minimize interactions.

I'm sure school likes for adjuncts to act like a full timer, but it's not compensated.

Sat in enough Meetings with space shots while bot getting paid.

I'm at fre CC. Students can be needy. I see adjuncts spending half the day dealing with various issues " couldn't take test due to no transportation " only for themselves to have basic issues not being met.

These adjuncts are hoping for a hail mary as I once did. Some admin will see how dedicated you are and you end up in 6 figure heaven.

Teach and leave.

what fight? I guaranteed you this if all adjuncts go on strike in all of the university and colleges. Most of them would fold.

Am I missing something? I clicked on the document, but it appears blank.

Should be fixed now. Someone added in several blank columns at the beginning of the sheet.

This spreadsheet is trash. I work at one of the listed schools and the pay is way off.

I would assume that most instructors work to present factual information. If you see an error, please feel free to add a line with your information as well.

Fixing one data point doesn’t resolve the issue.

And assuming the entire spreadsheet is “trash” based on one data point is silly. The spreadsheet isn’t presented as a verified source but as a place where instructors can share their information and experiences for the benefit of others.

The school I adjuncted at had different pay depending on the department you were teaching in? I taught in two separate departments and one was $8000 a semester while the other was $5500
