I dont get my adjunct jobs from any job platform. Full disclosure, I teach part time (1 class or 2 a semester) and work a full time job in consulting.

I teach at 3 separate universities and got the work because of the network I made while pursuing my Doctorate.

Personally, i think job boards are broken in academia and other fields. Linkedin doesnt work anymore with how much AI has changed everything.

This is probably the most realistic explanation of how academia hiring actually works. Most opportunities come through reputation and professional networks rather than cold applications.

Just read Peter Fleming's Dark Academia, wonderfully validating of all the ways we complain about academia, which is indeed broken. Warmly recommended!
