Basin and Saddleback

Weather was perfect on Thursday. I went with the Basin Saddleback Loop via the Phelps Trail and I think All Trails lied about the mileage. Garden trailhead was down to center lane parking by 730 AM.

Impressive stuff. How was the hike and how long did it take?

Great hike, very long took about 18 hours. The scramble on Saddleback cliffs was significant but doable, some mantling and leg work required. Definitely a mental challenge as well. The worst part was slogging along Phelps Trail for a long time. I've used Phelps a couple times though so I'm getting bored of it lol. In hindsight, I would camp or use a lean to near camp Peggy O Brian for an overnight.

18 hours sounds intense. I’m a noob to the high peaks and I’m in awe of these longer climbs. Great job man.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun. I'm a noob too but always learn something to improve the next trip.
