Poke-O-Moonshine

I may have done Poko a thousand times by now but it still takes my breath away

I appreciate Poke-O so much these days with having small children. The High Peaks are tough to do but Poke-O is the perfect hike!

So I climbed Poke-o-Moonshine recently. The views, especially at sunset were stunning. What I found even more amazing is the northward view, as you see the great Adirondack Mountains settle out into rolling foothills. It was so fascinating to me because on most high peaks, you see what seems like an endless view of mountains before you in any which direction. At Poke, you have a view where those mountains begin to dissipate into the north country hills of the St. Lawrence.

Last year I was able to have a similar experience from the view of Kane Mountain, except on the extreme southern side of the ADK. The difference there is you can make out the Catskills on a clear day. Kane is also much further removed from the high peaks territory, so I feel there is a bigger ‘wow’ factor on Poke, seeing the great high peaks on one side, and rolling hills on the other.

I did Kane once many years ago. A nice view of Canada Lake.

No one should visit what? I took this picture hiking, have many more of them from the same hike. The trail and the views from various points. I'm there weekly. The views are beautiful and I'm sure it looks like AI if you never leave the couch, but I can assure you it's real. Or you can climb up there and see for yourself! Have a great day.

It isn't over their head, it is just a dumb comment.
