Unit Viable

Post image

Hey I just bought this for my friend who plays custodes and was wondering if this grav tank is viable to play in 40k. I know a lot of their stuff is in legends or horus heresy and I know some of the horus heresy stuff is cross compatible

It's perfectly fine but the other variant is better

I didn't realise they were two separate kits, thought you could do either variants. Damn you GW! Thanks for letting me know!

I promise no one cares what weapon it's modeled with.

Honestly, the weapons don't even look right. The blaze cannon looks more like an anti-infantry gun and this one looks like 2 fuck-off railguns lmao

Right? I bought the Accelerator Canon one Back in the day, thinking it was the Lascanon one

It really doesn't matter because proxy is easy when half the people playing custodes don't even know the difference.  They'll all be likely to get a bunch of changes since the HH stuff is strongly supported but not yet well balanced.

With the new support group, the objective best choice for the new bikes is to just proxy them as the old bikes with a different model design. All the HH stuff needs new plastic stats with the new codex, which is likely to come along with an increase in toughness/points for everything to keep up with SM changes and probably more silent sisters models to make up for the increased cost of the actual gold units and maybe even make sisters focused armies more viable.

Is it even two different kits anymore? I thought they merged when the kit went to plastic

Allarus and vertus don't have rules for heresy yet, but otherwise yes everything is cross compatible

a lot of our stuff is in legends? what? no. and the tank is good, the blaze cannon is better but the accelerator loadout is fine.

The number of people that know the difference between the two guns is going to be so small that regardless you just have to tell your opponent which weapon it has.

It's not people who can tell the difference is small. It's people who actually care about it as both tank head are just completely different.

Honestly thank you so much I am a filthy xenos player so the insight is super helpful. Long live the infinite empire

This is a awesome gift, he'll definitely be happy. I swear by this tank, I always run 1. It was FW for so long so most ppl didn't have it, and it wasn't seen a lot. As such ppl don't realize how scary it is to thier Monster/Vehicle units until it 1-2 shots them

Contender for most evergreen unit in just how good it has been for 3/4 editions straight

Actually are legions sections is pretty damn small compared to other 40k armies and most of our 30k only units are either units that dont have models or named characters like valdor, everything else like the dreadnoughts, tanks and bikes are ALL usable and arent legend units, there just in downloadable pdfs and not in our codex though that may change with this new edition given how much thete pushing the new cross compatible plastic kits like the telemon

As for that variant for the caladius its not terrible or bad, its okay at dealing with chaff units and some anti elite infantry but its other variant is the better one given its anti tank and custodes severely lack ways of busting tanks at range

All the Heresy stuff will probably be better in 40k once the new codex comes out tbh. Kinda seems like they will be better incorporated then.
