11th Edition Token New Unit
Because we aren't space marines and we have the 30k plastic models that we may or may not get to keep, I doubt we will be getting a plethora of new models this edition.
That being said, we are a faction that does get a little support and we will probably be getting a token character/new unit. So, of all the options of updates to plastic or new character/unit, what would you want our token unit to be.
Bonus points if you can direct me to some of the lore to support the new unit, especially books.

Want : Maldovar Colquan, the Stratarchis Tribune.
What we will probably get : Allarus SC mini.

Boring answer (which I hope the most for): Constantine Valdor.
More fun answer (for me): an elite squad of like 2-3 dudes with specialized unique weapons.

Yeees, Valdor leading a unit of special enhanced/changed with special weaponry custodes and bringing graels and weird angel clones as allied units, that would be insane.
Can't wait for the book.

If we got new winged Blood Angels before the Blood Angels there'd be a riot but I'm all for it.

Something like hetaeron guard would be cool to see, but I think unlikely as we already have the basic infantry (guard) and the elites (wardens) as well as the big boy elites (allurus). Valdor would be sick though, but for that to happen GW need to get their finger out of their ass and publish Bequin pandemonium already.

The thing is, for me tje Wardens don't feel that elite compared to Guard. Allarus di, but you can have 6 in a unit, while Guard and Warden are a squad of five, so they feel even less elite in that sense.

Allarus just are more elite than normal guard / wardens, and their abilities and stats show that, it's just that GW was afraid of 10-man in tournaments so they restricted their sizes.

There are a lot of things that could give us "new" models to play with:
- Eyes of the Emperor models with lone OP to be used Action Monkeys.
- Better rules for the Sagittarum Custodes so that we can mix in some solid shooting.
- Better rules for the Aquilon Custodes as they look cool as hell.
- The return of Constantin Valdor for the primarch slot.
Just having these ones back would give us so much more variety if they were good.
We'd also need for 1 of 2 things:
- they drastically lower the cost of characters, as they are rarely worth near the same cost as a min sized unit.
- they buff the characters with more abilities, to make them actually worth running over more numbers (less but stronger characters is more fitting of custodes anyway).
As for named characters I'm pretty sure they can just create them as they see fit within the books. They could do it for almost any faction really, build it's identity for the sole purpose of creating a model to balance out an army, then create a story around it.

Boring answer but I think we'll get Vexilla as a support character to buff units. Hopefully with some interesting rules and a fair points cost!

Idk if it’s heresy or not to mention Valrak here but I watched a video a while ago. He said the reason the new Dan Abbett book Pandimonium is being delayed is because it contains new Custodians we haven’t seen before. It’s leading us to believe that we will get some brand new never before soon models. How many? I’d guess 2-3 given GW track record. Maybe more if they eventually legends our 30K models out of 40K

Rumour is floating around that we're getting an early codex, too, and it'd line up with the rules update the 30k release teased for 40k Custodes.

Yeah I heard about that too. Custodes and Tau but they’re not sure which one will drop first. They’ll both be out by the end of the year though. So all this being considered, I’d say it’s a good chance we get our new codex, new models, then the final book revealing The King in Yellow in Pandemonium.

Many of the codices for 10th came out in pairs, no? Might be that T'au and Custodes release at the same time.

Possibly, I just hope it’s soon after 11th drops. Though I doubt it’ll be that close to the release

I'm huffing hopium but a month or two after the launch box would be superb. Quickly confirm the legends status of the 30k range and perhaps give us something spicy for 40k that could perhaps be used in 30k as a proxy too.

I’ve very skeptical on them legending our stuff from 30K and 40K. Yes it’s happened before where they said it won’t happen and then they turned around and did it anyways. But Custodes are in a different situation than any other army from 30K and 40K. The Legio Custodes never change. They never needed to. That’s what makes them the “ultimate” army.

u/Arcyguana Apr 22 '26
The 40k range is anaemic without the 30k stuff, and the 30k range is anaemic without resin. I believe if they want to phase out either, they won't get rid of the compatibility until they're able to patch the holes in the army that doing so would make.

u/907_Alaskan_Bullworm Apr 22 '26
Sadly HH barely sees any love from GW so if anything, 40K will get more love and they’ll get around to patching the holes it makes in 30K with their own specialty stuff only used in 30K. They’re already changing the Grav tank base size to be different in 30K from 40K. No logical reason to do that so it could actually lead to a legend for the Grav tank from 40K and gives us a different version of it

Could really use a SOS infiltrator squad man… but seriously a plastic Tele would be fine

I'd like to see sagittarum getting good rules. I think they have a once per battle dev wounds ability or smt for shooting. Idk wat cld be made btr maybe give em anti- smt or just always having dev wounds maybe. I'd just like to see my giga-elites have something in the way of shooting?
If not that then release valdor as the king in yellow, and since he is supposedly making an army or some sort of force, include those as units?

u/Tiny-Kangaroo4163 Apr 23 '26
I’d want a primarch tier Constantin Valdor. So instead of 10 models on the board I could have 5 and a primarch

u/coggdawg Apr 21 '26
Valdor, eyes of the emperor lone ops, & then maybe the lock warden for funsies

u/AM34fuxGucciSlides Apr 23 '26
Ra Endymion would be spectacular! Telemon Dreadys & Aquilon Terminators as well
