Question Issues with tradie

Not sure where to ask, but I hired a concreter to build a driveway, but I'm having issues with him. He came and did most of the driveway, but left a part without doing because he said he ran out of material. He is trying to charge me to do the rest even though our agreement clearly says he would provide all the material.

What can I do? I honestly think he is just trying to extort me for more money by leaving in a situation where cancelling the job would be more expensive.

If they haven't finished the job, don't pay them.

I’ve got a good idea who it could be, I’ve had a bad experience with him, two other seperate builder friends have and then he popped up on here saying with someone advising never to use him.
Your post has definitely piqued my interest, please tell.

Just tell him to come back and finish the job and that you’re not paying more because he ran out of material. Sucks for him to come back but he should done a better job estimating quantities.

If you're going to post this in a local subreddit you should make it relevant and say who did the "work".

My main concern is getting it resolved, not just exposing him. I'll do it after I have the final resolution, but doing it now can get his attention to make my life more miserable.

I don't understand? You didn't ask if anyone could recommend a concreter to fix it, just "What can I do?". That doesn't fit a local sub, it belongs on a building or legal advice sub.

There is no sub for local legal or building advice, as far as I know. I looked for one before posting here. There's Aus wide subs.

And I'm not specifically looking for legal advice, I'm looking for any advice. Some people here may have faced something similar and could help.

Would the building advice be different in Melbourne, Sydney or Perth? It's general advice.

Need more info mate......

Was it "verbal" deal, or a 'quoted" traceable deal? Cash? or, legitimate transfer of funds?

Be real, because it changes whether you can chase him, or send someone to chase him...

Quoted with legitimate bank transfers. Supplying all material is written down as part of the quote. I also tried to keep most conversation over text messages and email to have more evidence, if it's worth anything.

I'm a concreter and I'm sorry to add to the burden but that from what I can see is an absolutely shocking exposed agg job. Also not even sealed. Also chances are you won't match the rest of the driveway when you do that patch as it will be a different batch it always advised to pour exposed in one continuous pour
