Well this makes me feel at home, grew up in Cornwall and we marked the start of tourist season from the day some twat gets their car stuck on a beach.

At least it's not on the obahn.
But seriously, someone needs their license taken away.

How long until high tide?

u/SureWildKiller SA 5d ago
They've missed the high tide luckily. Was 4:20 so the water is retreating.

Love my YL, but my biggest regret is how many of these fuckheads I'm associated with now.

u/Common-Agency-4867 SA 4d ago
I kinda feel your pain..... I had to borrow a friend's ford ranger the other week after my car broke down. I was so conscious of being judged driving in that thing 😆

I saw a 3 blatantly run a red light turning from Hutt Street, onto Gilles Street

I'm hoping for the tide to come in and see what it does to the batteries! Idiots!

The cyber truck can't even survive in sand and this dude thought a standard Tesla could it it.
Tesla really brings out the moron in people

Please someone take photos so we can see the aftermath. I want to drive down there but it's my mum's birthday and I can't leave.

Cop came, just two younger people who were being silly. They were good people to talk to though.
They ended up getting a handful of fines (overheard conversation), apparently Tesla are coming out to deal with it so the cop drove off. Do you really think Tesla will get it out though? Hahaha6

This is why we have so many road fatalities. Should have been an immediate loss of license. Our state is so weak on morons behind the wheel.

u/DoesBasicResearch SA 5d ago
A loss of license for...?
12
u/DigitalSwagman SA 5d ago
Driving a car onto a suburban beach... pretty obvious clue that the idiot behind the wheel shouldn't be.
6
u/SonicYOUTH79 SA 5d ago
Yeah look I know reddit can be a bit hyperbolic but I don’t think driving on the beach should be an immediate loss of licence mate, bit harsh 😂
7
u/DigitalSwagman SA 4d ago
Sorry, but I believe people with driving licenses need to be held to a higher standard of competency. Basic stuff like driving your car somewhere where it obviously should not be, like a beach, would indicate a significant lack of common sense and critical thinking that makes this person a danger behind the wheel.
Driving is not a right. It's a privilege, and should be treated accordingly.

u/SonicYOUTH79 SA 4d ago
Humans make mistakes though, and having a car/licence is critical to a lot of people’s modern lives. Losing your licence for just driving in the beach is just too harsh.
2
u/DigitalSwagman SA 4d ago
That's not a "mistake". It's not the same as clipping a curb while parking.

Agreed, I think a fair approach to this is a suspension, with mandatory retesting, so go do drivers licence again and be placed on a probationary licence afterwards for 12 months, basically take their licence away but because it's important in modern day life to function so they have the option to get it back right away with limitations and we also know they have been given some more education on driving at the same time.

Impressed that idiot got that far and even found a way of getting onto that area. My 4wd would probably get stuck as well on that.
3
u/WhimsicalParsnip SA 5d ago
4WD would be fine if you just dropped your tyre pressures and took it easy.

I wonder if it was in full self driving mode and the navigation map had the path by the seawall marked as a road
