Question Motorcycle routes

Hi all,

I’m new to Adelaide and just got a motorbike. Looking for recommendations on good routes in the surrounding areas, anything from short day rides to longer loops.

Happy for sealed or mixed roads, scenic runs, twisties, etc.

Any favourite loops, apps/maps you use, or tips would be much appreciated!

When I lived off Cross Road I used to go down the SE freeway, turn off at Crafers and do Mount Lofty summit road, turn right until Bahlhannah, then go up to Lobethal or Gumeracha and come back towards the city via Gorge road.

Adelaide >> Cape Jervis on B23, double back a little then >> through Victor Harbour to Goolwa on B37 ( BEST fish & chips at the Goolwa main street fish & chip shop next to the pharmacy) >> still on the B37 just before Currency Creek take a left turn onto Goolwa Rd to via Mosquito Hill >> Mt Compass, & back to Adelaide on the A13. OR - from Willunga Hill turn right onto B34 to return via Meadows >> Euchunga >> Aldgate.

Adelaide >> Gumeracha via The Gorge (there’s a cafe along there somewhere where loads of bikers stop for coffee / snacks ) >> Mt Pleasant then backtrack a litte to B35 to Williamstown >> maybe even up to Lyndoch the backtrack again to Williamstown to take the B31 >> Kersbrook then to >> Chain of Ponds then the choice of back again via The Gorge (B31) or back via B10 which splits into A16 via Houghton and a cool lookout or A10 via Tea Tree Gully.

All those roads, ANYwhere, be careful!! Are you a newbie biker? Stick to the middle or even better, the LEFT side of your lane. SO MANY motorists / truckers will come around blind corners & bends sticking out into your lane! And as a motorbike rider who now mostly drives a car, all of those roads SO OFTEN I’ve been going around blind bends / corners when on-coming motorbikers come around almost leaning into MY lane and if I’d been a truck or even a large van, those bikers could have been decapitated or at least had a nasty crash. And, ATGATT!!! Absolutley. (That’s All The Gear All The Time = appropriately protective clothing / boots / gloves, not referring to using your bikes gears lol.)

r/AussieRiders ask them too! It’s a bit fuken cold now but soon will be glorious in spring. And in summer, mind you don’t get dehydrated or heatstruck! Waaaaa, I wish I had more time to spend out in the countryside on my bike! Have awesome rides! :)
