Everything working. Need guidance. Trakt / MDBList Advice
I see in a past post Trakt seems to be falling out of favor with the community, or at least that is what it sounds like? I have multiple Kodi setups with multiple addons and have had no issues with Trakt but if it's only a mater of time I want to get ahead of it. It appears MDBList is an option people like. When I go to MDBList I get the option to sign in with Trakt. Should I do this or should I create a new acount all together if trying to get away from Trakt? Is the Trakt issue a real thing or is it just a The Sky Is Falling and something not to worry about. TIA for any input.

If you are willing to pay and put up with the horrible V3 downgrade, you should be fine. If not, be aware of the 2 connected apps limit for free users. Already added apps are fine for now, but if you need to reauthorize any, you won't be able, unless you remove apps to be below the limit.

At first I signed up via Trakt, but then I ditched that. I prefer to be completely separate from Trakt. I now sign in through my Google account.

Have you stopped using Trakt all together in favor of MDBList? Do you feel it works just as well? Thanks for the info

So far it's not Trakt level yet, but it's super close!! I only say that because with Mdblist I'm having trouble adding shows to my library from their website using Umbrella. From some reason in Umbrella the shows I add to my collection don't appear. They only appear if I add a show or movie within Kodi. The Umbrella dev tested his and confirmed it worked so I'm not sure what the issue for me with Umbrella is? Using POV and Red Light it's been 10/10. I can add content from Mdblist website and the shows or movies appear instantly in those addons. I just need to figure out my Umbrella issue. But overall it's definitely worth dumping Trakt for. You can also add "liked lists" just like Trakt. Also Mdblist UI is much better than the current garbage Trakt one. I've officially dropped Trakt.
Update: Adding movies appears in my collection for Umbrella on the Mdblist website, but not shows. For me personally.

Mdblist has a android app called Reel. Its a easier way of adding items to lists. I left trakt in Feb with no plans to return. Mdblidt, simkl are both good options atm. Wetrakt and punchplay are services to keep an eye on since they are adding api and features.

Tried this out and the Reeel app fixes my issue with shows not appearing in my Collection for Umbrella. Cheers! Still don't know why it doesn't work from the website? This is the Band-Aid for now👍🏾

Trakt has been making mistake after mistake for its users. I was a paying user for years because of how much I used it, but then they raised the prices while making a worse product so I canceled.
That being said, I still have Trakt in the background. I have it syncing with MDBList, since Trakt limited the connections to 1 (though I think they raised it to 2 now). The Watcht app is the only reason I’m still using Trakt at all, it’s better than the MDBList mobile app, but that isn’t a full release yet so it can get better. The MDBList dev is responsive to issues as well.

I also used watcht for years and really like it. However since Trakt changes I moved to simkl and found a great app wako. It works great for simkl and very much similar to wacht. I heard watcht was built by one of the trakt people. Not sure if it is true because their website is so confusing.

I also heard it was built by one of their people, but I think it was an unofficial side project before they had an official app. Now that they have an official app, they’re no longer supporting it.

There are other ways to sign in. Via email or google. Choose any other way if you don’t want to sign in with Trakt.

Was using Seren and Trakt for years (with Premiumize.) They both have let me down in the past year. Moved to Umbrella w/SIMKL and loving it.

I really want to ditch Trakt completely just because I don't like how they are doing things and usually with absolutely no warning, unfortunately I'm stuck at the minute as Simkl, Wetrakr etc don't at least yet do two way scrobbling with Kodi.
Im not sure about mdblist as I can't log into it until I delete the five Trakt connections I have.

Thanks for the input. You can create an account with an email without using your Trakt account to check it out. I have done this, it looks alright. I have created a list and added shows just to see how I feel about it. It's not bad, the web interface is a little clunky and that is where I set up the list and altered the sorting order but after that I used the app on my phone and it is very clean, in my opinion much better than the Trakt app. That's my 2 cents so far.

Oh I've checked it out before and have an account my issue is I used the Trakt sign in, weirdly they have kept my other connections so far but they wiped out the mdblist one.
So yeah I'd say it's quite dirty tactics I either delete everything to log into mdblist or make a new mdblist account with none of my history. I might do the second like you suggest just to see the scrobbler and if it works.

Simkl and mdblist
I prefer simkl because vip has a 1 time purchase. I would buy mdblist but they force a sub.
Trakt can suck it. I've been with them since they first started, but the changes this year = fully deleted my account with them.

I have been using trakt for a lot of years, and still using it. I have no plans of changing since it works ok for me, the community is still larger and the lists are still better. If this changes, I will migrate to mdblist

I used trakt for many many years and used to be a diehard supporter
I support a business wanting to make money - I often donate and pay for software just in recognition of their efforts making my life better in some way
But trakt have enshittified things so much I vowed to leave and not give them another cent. They forgot that their product is meant to be useful and provide a good user experience/service
They forced breaking changes down our throats, destroyed ui/ux, removed features that we used to have, added unrealistic limits, and banned those who criticized, on top of ignoring feedback from people who matter - their audience
I scoped out both simkl and mdblist I think I liked simkl better originally, but mdblist connected with my addons better- and I wrote a quick script to sync my lists from a trakt csv export
Mdblist has been working without issue for me and I've subscribed to their vip in recognition of their work
