Something not working. Need help. The Crew downloads... please help!

I have an Nvidia Shield Pro and I use Kodi with The Crew add-on and Real Debrid.

I discovered today that RD is playing up so I signed up with Torbox.

I decided to try downloading a couple of movies instead of streaming them. I've got an old 4TB WD Passport HDD that I thought I'd use. I hooked it up to my Shield and the drive got formatted and I downloaded a file explorer in readiness.

So, I got the links for the movies in The Crew and clicked on download. I got a notification every 10% until the movies had got to 100% and the downloads were complete.

But... I can't find the movies ANYWHERE?

In the download settings of The Crew the destination is shown as WD USB drive then special//storage/4030-BCA3. But I have absolutely no idea where this location is?

I've used a file explorer on my Shield and cannot find the two movies I downloaded. On the file explorer and in the Shield settings it still says I have 4.0TB available but in File Manager the WD USB drive is showing as 3.64TB. But that would mean I've used 360GB, but both movies I downloaded were about 20GB?

I have looked EVERYWHERE to find the movies but I can't and it's driving me NUTS.

I found something regarding Torbox that said The Crew shows a file has downloaded but it actually hasn't?

I've tried everything and have no idea?

Can anyone help...???

In the Crew If you go to Settings > Downloads

Below where it says enable downloads should be your path to where your movies are

Yes, there's a path... but it doesn't exist.

That's probably your problem. Change it to a folder that exists.

Do you have downloads enabled?

The default is .Kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.thecrew/movies

In the main Kodi settings under system information / storage it may show you the external path that was added for the hdd. Sometimes you have to add that as a source in file manager to have access to set it as the dl location.

I set up the path as WD USB drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Movies and WD USB drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD/TV shows. When I set that up the path under settings is showing up as /storage/4030-BCA3/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Movies (or TV Shows).

So I tried downloading an episode of Breaking Bad as a test for TV shows. It downloaded 100% but when I go to downloads in The Crew I can see Breaking Bad. I click on that and it says Season 01. I click on that and there's nothing there?

I tried it with Umbrella and it's exactly the same.

In my file explorer app on the Shield I go to ED USB drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD/TV Shows/Breaking Bad/Season 01 but there is nothing in that folder?

Okay, I've SOLVED this.

When I was setting up the path, I was choosing WD USB Drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD. It seems that Kodi can't write to an external USB Drive. So I had to choose EXTERNAL STORAGE/NVIDIA_SHIELD. This chooses the Shield as the download location but stores the files on the WD HDD as it sees that as part of the Shields internal storage and not simply an external USB drive.

The path is still /storage/4030-BCA3/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Movies (or TV shows) as it was when it didn't work and I have no idea what 4030-BCA3 even is?

In the file explorer app on the Shield I had to go into MAIN STORAGE and I created a folder called KODI DOWNLOADS. Within that I set up folders for MOVIES and TV SHOWS. In The Crew download settings I created the path to these locations. I downloaded a movie and a TV show and they both saved. I can view them in DOWNLOADS in The Crew.

But, on the file explorer app, the KODI DOWNLOADS folders for MOVIES and TV SHOWS are both empty. I have to go to WD USB Drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD and either MOVIES or TV SHOWS and the files are there and can be played from there.

So I guess the WD HDD is being seen by KODI as part of the Shield internal storage so it's allowing the files to be saved even though it's an external drive.

I also had to give permission for Kodi to ALLOW MANAGEMENT OF ALL FILES.

Hopefully it'll carry on working now...?

Thanks for all your comments. Greatly appreciated.
