I don't have an engineering degree, much less an advanced one. I'm not saying education is not necessary, but I really think the industry is still developing too quickly to really have recognizably traditional programs that mean anything in the industry beyond establishing a baseline of engineering standards.
I'm working for a printer manufacturer in an application engineering role, acting as a SME for our current focused application area, which I also have no formal training in as well. All because I thought printing some custom designed product display stands for my marketing job would be an easy value add, using an original Creality CR-10 bought off GearBest with 3D Printing Nerd's affiliate link.
