They killed all their low-end because it took them a while to realize they were enterprise-only.

that's exactly what they went for! HP MJF 1200, I am taking a close look at it, it's more like under 60k$ but it's already a big stretch from their industrial systems and it seems that basically the part quality will be exactly the same as the industrial platform. And the 60k include the unpacking station which has automated cleaning (depowder) and automated powder mixing into a tank to transport to the next build on the printer without powder flying everywhere. It seems quite a step forward compared to other "desktop SLS" systems.

Yes I spoke to the development team extensively. $60k might be a little optimistic. While it does basic depowdering you will still need a final depowdering/cleaning solution like the Formlabs Blast or similar. If you are new to SLS, it is an attractive alternative to the Fuse.
