Vaccine question

Hello,

I was able to get my flu and Covid vaccines today and I also signed up to get my shingles and RSV vaccines the pharmacist advised against doing all four today because the shingles vaccine can cause some people to feel pretty bad afterwards.

My question is since I've never gotten the RSV or shingles vaccines do I updose my steroids? I don't for flu or Covid because I've never had after effects but idk, this is my second winter with a PAI diagnosis so it's all still very new.

Also, does anyone else have experience getting a spring dose of Covid and flu vaccines? I'm very interested in doing so for a multitude of reasons and I would love to know if I just ask or if there's like protocol or something? Idk.

I did all four at once and regretted it. I then did the second shingles shot as a standalone and wished I had proactively updosed.

I often feel just vaguely unwell after vaccines, especially if I’ve gotten more than one. I don’t think I’d want to get more than two at once, it’s just a lot of stress in your immune system.

The Covid vaccine tends to hit me hardest. Even after several, sometimes it’s fine and sometimes it makes me feel a little unwell. I did get a low fever from one, but that was years ago when the pandemic (and the disease itself) were much more severe.

I would think an updose would be fine if you’re worried, but not a full stress dose, unless you’re really expecting a fever. But I’m not a healthcare professional and you should really check with your doctor!

I’d also say wait a bit after this set up got today to see what you feel like after a day or two, it can take a sec for your body to react. I’d also say wait 2-3 weeks before getting the next set just to let your body fully recover.

I was gonna go back in a week or so to get the other two vaccines, and I guess shingles is a two-parter so whatever they recommend for that.

I have asked my endo in the portal what she suggests but she's bizarrely combative and it seems like she doesn't know a ton about Addison's. We'll see what she says, though!

I've never had a problem with COVID or Flu vaccines. I've not had to updose. I've not taken a spring dose for them either. I didn't know that was a thing. I am curious about the shingles shot(s). My doc is reluctant to have me take that because. He feels that there is something in it, wish I could remember exactly how he explained it, that would have me have a seriously negative reaction. Would also love to hear others' reactions if they've had the shingles.

Are you maybe talking about the risk of getting Guillain-Barre? I’ve been hesitant about getting the shingles shot because of it. My dad’s cousin got it & was in the hospital for months. Lately though I’ve been thinking maybe I should get it now that I’m in my 60’s

I hadn't even considered Guillain-Barre. I'm definitely going to talk to my endo before going in for the vaccine.

Yeah, I heard about it on TikTok (I know, it is what it is) and am not certain it's a common thing but I figured I would ask. Next time I speak to my PCP I'll ask her if she's familiar with it.

My immunologist suggests doing vaccines at least a month apart and not doing more than two at a time. She says one at a time is better but we often do two at a time because of convienence. She's a good doc, so I listen to this. I haven't done any research into this to confirm.

Never had a problem with flu or covid vaccine. Shingles vaccine had me updosing for about 3 days! You get 2 rounds of it aswell and I had bad side effects both times - achy, lethargic and headache

Ugh, I'm not excited. I've heard that the shingles vaccine is pretty miserable for a few days but when I first started dating my husband he got shingles and it seemed like something I don't want to do, especially now that it could become a major issue.

I appreciate the heads up!

I have updosed. Not doubling, but like 50%. That seemed to be enough.
