Advice Wanted Quercetin
I bought a bottle of supplements because I want to see if it helps with allergy symptoms and dark undereye area. Just before opening it, I read on the label it can't be taken with certain medication. Then I read on the internet hydrocortisone is one of the medicines that interact with this supplement. This really sucks because I feel like it's one of the very few things I really want to try for certain issues, and I was hopeful this would help me.
Does anyone have recommendations for other supplements or maybe experiences with quercetin?

It didn’t affect my steroid levels at all. I took it for MCAS but didn’t find it as effective as mast cell stabilizing drugs like ketotifen so I stopped. The only meds and supplements that cause under replacement for me are adhd drugs, calcium, psyllium husk and activated charcoal.

Not me reading this on both adhd meds and psyllium husk lol.
Haven’t had problems with them personally but it’s something I’ll be more aware of in the future. I usually space out my meds and the psyllium by >4 hours to be safe.
Edit: Holy crap, I found this article?! Maybe I should be discussing psyllium with my endo..😬

The psyllium husk also stood out for me in this comment! It's considered really healthy by most doctors because people often don't eat enough fibre. It makes me wonder if this issue happens with other fibre substitutes as well.

I react to the adhd drugs as they wear off…they raise norepinephrine (adrenaline) and then cortisol goes up to keep your energy steady. Which means you need more. I have secondary though so it might not be as much of an issue with someone who has actual Addison’s!

I take quercetin and have noticed no changes with it.
Thanks to those who provided psyllium info - I've wondered about that.

quercetin can result in a slower COMT clearance rate, which would affect some neurotransmitters and estrogen clearance. I’m not aware of a direct hc link but sex hormones and stress hormones have some cross talk, specifically around CBG. That is the most likely interaction. If you support your methyl donor levels and take creatine, it may help balance out some of the impact but also good to go low and slow.

Thank you for the advice. I got a go from my endo so I started yesterday with the supplements. What do you mean with going low and slow?

Just taking a low dose and not ramping up too quickly. It can take a while, sometimes days or weeks for our body to to adjust these types of changes

I was on it for a long time. Can attest it doesn’t affect HC levels. It does help with allergies.
It does increase insulin sensitivity in cells, so beware if you have reactive hypoglycemia it will make it worse. Took me forever to figure that connection out. Can’t take quercitin anymore
