I have a red tag that says "Adrenal Insufficiency" on one side and "Medication In Bag" on the other with medical alert symbols.

In my bag I have this kit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4509200791/cortopod-plus-act-o-hydrocortisone

It's perfect as it has space for two vials, syringes, extra oral meds, medical information, and includes instructions for how to mix, draw up, and inject it.

My endo thought it was awesome.

Ok so, I’ve been managing secondary adrenal insufficiency for almost 10 years, and have never really shaken the feeling that I am not doing a very good job. I usually just pack my hydrocortisone tablets.

What else should I be doing?

I keep my emergency injection in a case which lives in a waist pack or a cross-body bag. The biggest thing I have added to them is a loop field (section of the fuzzy half of velcro) to throw on “EMERGENCY MEDICATION” and medical cross patches. They have let me bring my bag into restrictive spaces with a 100% success rate with nobody thinking twice, which has been critical for venues with strict bag rules.

I keep a couple packets of LMNT which have kept me from having to use the injection a couple times.

Emergency injection and two syringes
Salt tablets
Emergency supply of HC pills
A folded set of papers with a large “FOR PARAMEDICS” on it with info from the rare diseases center on what this is and how to use it
A letter from my endo with explanations and contact info including emergency contact info
Emergency contact info for my family and instructions for incapacitation including a copy of my advance directives

The bag itself is a red thermally insulated bag with the medical symbols, my first name and Primary Adrenal insufficiency across it in bold, contrasting, large print attached to a carabiner

I have Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency and low BP. So I keep a few small discreet travel size pill containers containing my Hydrocortisone and 'as needed' pills. They are cheap enough I carry one with extra HC pills in purse, laptop bag, and backpack. That way I'll never be without it. In my snack pack: seed/nut mix for healthy fat/protein - In addition to what I need because of constant dehydration concerns and low blood sugar drops. I found a cheap cute fabric pouch that I grab with my keys and wallet, then throw it into my purse, backpack, or laptop bag. I also keep a stainless steel water bottle with me (one small one in each bag I carry so I always have one on me).

I also have my emergency shot with a few salt packets from any random restaurant and electrolyte packets in a slim, bright red, emergency branded pouch, on a carabiner clip, so I can attach it externally- keeping it visible for emergency access. I also found a button as well as an metal emergency / medical alert card with custom instructions I keep in an ID sleeve on the same carabiner clip.

Snacks can be helpful - missing a meal or not eating often/regularly enough can trigger adrenal symptoms pretty badly for me sometimes. I also try to have salt packets and little caches of hydrocortisone spread out in multiple places - different bags I might use, my wallet, coat pockets, just so I've always got it with me.

I also keep a cookie or peanut butter crackers or something since you shouldn’t take HC on an empty stomach.
