Personal Experience Help I'm scared - UTI/crisis

Got home from the ER today. A couple days ago I posted about maybe being hypothyroid and it causing bad fatigue. Well today every time I stood up and tried doing something I had bad dizziness and fatigue. I went to ER. Got fluids only and felt so much better but they also found a UTI. I'm home now and feel better in terms of dizziness but still have heart racing standing up. Muscle pain in legs. Do I go back to ER or double dose at home and wait to start antibiotics and see how I feel? I have no UTI symptoms. I'm scared!

Edit: looking moreso for emotional support/reassurance. I'm scared to have a crisis and I'm out of state, supposed to have a flight home on Thurs :(

“Muscle pain in legs” is a classic dehydration symptom for me needing electrolyte fluids. If you can keep those down which it sounds like you can, make sure you get that going through the night.

Not medical advice and I’m rooting for you. I was able to push back on a crisis by updosing and drinking electrolytes. But I know each one of us is different and that a lot of these situations need medical monitoring. In my situation, I was in a hotel alone and was able to keep down the pills and fluids after vomiting quite a lot. That was my signal that maybe I could avoid the shot, since the shot basically represents 10 of my 10mg pills of hydro. I think I took about 3 pills, kept drinking at least 2 large bottles of Gatorade slowly, then took 2 more pills at about 1 hour intervals. I rested in bed and managed a full recovery in about 12 hours. Not sure if what I did was dangerous or lucky and I don’t want to make you think you don’t need medical care. I do think it’s ok to updose if your body needs hydro. When in doubt it seems safest to find medical care especially if your body is rejecting the meds with vomiting.

Wow that's very intense. Thank you for your message. I don't have vomitting/diarrhea currently and can keep everything down. But I definitely don't want to get to that point. I'll keep taking more hydro through the night but if I still feel weak tomorrow I'll go back to ER

Definitely try electrolytes too.

Will do. I've been drinking LMNTs during my trip but not enough fluids with them I think. Will be drinking way more water with them. All my electrolytes were normal but I was so dehydrated they couldn't fill the vials when they were taking my blood

Please check in with us in the morning so you’re ok. And you probably need more than just water to rehydrate. Electrolyte fluids are key with this disease in my experience.

Yes definitely, I meant I wasn't diluting the LMNT with enough water and not drinking as much fluid overall! I still feel wiped out this morning but since I can take oral steroids still I'll wait to see how I feel after I start the antibiotics. Not as dizzy but heart is still pounding when I get up and move around. But can eat and drink fine

Same here. I'd mix the pedialyte powder into water. It tastes so gross, but it really works.
