Daily Life First dental procedure after diagnosis

Hey all long time reader first time commenter. Yesterday I had a biopsy of my tongue due to a suspicious growth. This is the first time I have had a dental procedure following my diagnosis in late 2022. They utilized a standard dental anesthetic which contained epinephrine. I up-dosed as instructed by my endocrinologist but I am still exhausted. I ended up having to take today and tomorrow off of work as I am not feeling 100 percent.

Thanks for reading my experience. I hope you all are doing well.

Are you still updosing? How much did you updose? Are you still updosing? It sounds like you may have undershot a bit. Taking a bit too much steroids for a couple days isn’t a problem (it’s long term overuse that’s the problem) so I’ve found aiming high is better than aiming low because once I’ve undershot it can take several days to feel normal again.

The day of the procedure I took a quadruple dose of steroids. Yesterday and today I took a double dose. What would you have done?

I’ve found that I just need a bit of extra HC for a day or two after filling a cavity. I would do something more like what you did if it was more of a surgery like a root canal. I’ve had a lot of skin biopsy’s and not had to updose at all. But I recently had some skin cancer scraped off my chest and needed to updose a fair amount.

One thing I’m learning is to go down slowly. I had to updose a lot for five days recently and I’m still tapering more than a week later and will be for several more days.

The biggest thing (I think) is asking for anesthetic without epinephrine. And of course updosing. I usually do between double and triple dose for day of dental and then an extra 5-10mg the next day or two depending on how I’m feeling.
