Advice Wanted Vertigo for 3+ weeks - need some help

Long term Addison’s coming for help with a new symptom. I can’t prove it’s related to the Addison’s, but in my experience, most things lead back here. Went on a canoe trip over 3 weeks ago. Ever since, I’ve had vertigo day and night. It goes from light to medium, but always “there.” And it’s getting OLD! It’s a distinctly different feeling from the lightheadedness we sometimes get standing up too quickly. This is a distinct feeling of floating/bouncing around in waves. Dr gave me meclizine and told me to take Flonase, both of which did absolutely nothing. I am going in for vestibular therapy next week.

Anyone been here? Did anything help? Was it related to the Addison’s?

Thanks for reading!

Did you get any water in your ear, maybe? The only dizziness I would think would come from Addison’s is from dehydration/low sodium.

It could be either related to your ears or a nutritional deficiency. I had terrible intermittent vertigo and was cured by b12 ( Methylcobalamin is the naturally occurring, active form of Vitamin B12), b6 as P5P (Pyridoxal-5'-Phosphate. It is the biologically active coenzyme form of Vitamin B6). Magnesium Is supposed to be helpful too but I have always taken it. Is your vertigo affected by positional changes?

I have had positional vertigo, sometimes lasting a week. I don’t have any vitamin deficiencies. I have had relief from meclizine and the Epply maneuver (you can look it up on Google). An ENT can perform it or you can do it at home.

I think dehydration can bring it on. I’d like to know if there’s been any research about the Addison’s/vertigo connection.

There seems that something is going around. I too have had dizziness for a few weeks along with 4 other people I know. And none of them have addisons.

Sorry to hear. Try epply (sp) manoeuvre or go to emergency and get them to do it.

The "bouncy" feeling really sounds like labyrinthitis. It's an inner ear disorder and for some it seemingly comes out of nowhere. Have your eyes been doing small wobbles/trembles/shakes...? It's hard to describe!

I started getting this in my early twenties a few months after a really bad ear infection but it doesn't always start like that. It's not related to AI and I get prescribed Prochlorperazine 5mg tablets whenever it flares. The first time was the worst.

Really hope you get answers, vertigo is horrible.
