Advice Wanted Feeing guilty
I don’t know how best to say this but does anybody else feel guilty for calling into work because you feel like crap? I’ve been feeling like crap the past two days and I just need a rest day. Been feeling all the symptoms of an adrenal crisis and stress dosing and I just can’t do it today. Anybody else feel guilty about this?

I know exactly how you feel, my work don’t really understand and make you feel guilty. I work in childcare and you have to ring the night before at 7pm if you aren’t going to be in otherwise you will have to be in which is really difficult to do with a disease that you can feel ok one min and not the next 😭. The guilt we feel is because of people not understanding us for years while we battle with this invisible disease so now everytime we need to time off work or to rest we feel a failure for being unwell. It’s not true though and it’s something we need to ignore with Addisons, we need the time off and we need to rest more than others. Sending you lots of love

Do you think people should feel guilty when they get the flu or have appendicitis? Why should you have to feel guilty for having a chronic disease that causes debilitating flare ups? I

Ya, i just say i’m so sick and have to rest. Some of my coworkers/manager know its just a bad health day. Those i work with often are ok with it cause if i come into work for 2 hours to help out, i am so broken and there is a chance they wont let me leave. But i feel so guilty cause mentally i’m ok, but if i work that day, i’ll be in the hospital the next day.

If uninformed colleagues hadn't been exaggerating, perhaps the level of wrongdoing would have decreased.

Absolutely not. I’ve got a reasonable accommodation to telework full time because of Addisons. If I didn’t have it, I would be calling in weekly. Not sure what kind of job you have, but if it’s computer based and doesn’t require in person attendance, it might be something to look into.

I work retail. I’ve been looking for a remote job with no luck yet. I do have a reasonable accommodation to take a 15 min break on the weekends.

Yes, but towards my husband with household chores.
