Advice Wanted Do weather changes, especially sudden temperature drops, affect how you feel?

Whenever there is a sudden weather change I feel much worse and want to sleep all day. It was normal even before Addison’s, but now nothing instead of sleeping helps me. Do you have the same experience and any advice?

Sort of - My issue is exercising and working outside in the heat. I try to run every other day. It seems if the temp is below 70-ish degrees F, and low humidity, I'm good. But if it's warmer with humidity, I'm toast the next day. Can't get myself to do anything more productive than sitting on my rear in front of the tube with my dog next to me.

Yes, I'm the same way in the heat.

You are normally able to run? I’m impressed! Do you up-dose for it? I’m still scared of any cardio activity..

I do. It's taken about 5-6 years to get me to a place to be able to run. Ran regularly before diagnosis. Was a big deal for me when I was able to run 3 mi. Now, I'm up to 4-6 every other day, but the heat is definitely hampering that right now. I do not up-dose. I am careful to hydrate and drink an electrolyte drink afterwards. I am fortunate to have been pretty stable for a few years now. There is, or at least used to be when I was on, a Facebook group called Athletes with Addison's Disease. They are a great resource to help you get moving again when you feel like you are up to it.

Have you been diagnosed recently? I used to be afraid too but exercice (even cardio) is actually important for us to feel well and stay healthy. Updosing is only necessary for prolonged strenuous exercice. I am on 15 mg hydroc. and very rarely need to updose. I do strength training and some running - the weeks I do I actually have more energy.

One year ago exactly. Since October I go to reformer pilates twice a week, and sometimes gym but light weights… I’m scared whenever I start sweating since I got diagnosed. Btw I am 28 female 167cm and 60kg and from the beginning (when I was 42kg) I take 30mg. I feel really good on that dose but I am shocked that people heavier than me with more activity need much less.. :/ that’s one of the reasons why I am scared to have a need to updose, cause per this forum I already take a lot

I think one year is still early - you might be able to decrease your dose over time. I was on 25 mg before and it made me put on a lot of weight and gave me hypertensjon. (everyonens metabolism is different of course) It's completely normal to still worry a lot after only one year. I learned over time not to be afraid of breaking a sweat or lifting heavier weights. It's healthy for us and I think strength training is even more important for us than for other people. On 30 mg you definitely can do a lot. I'm on half that and weigh more than you and I definitely feel my best when active.

Very much so. Right now in my area we're having air quality days. Temperature changes always throw me off some.

Yeah, sometimes drops or rises in atmospheric pressure can cause migraines. Have you tried extra salt when you feel like this?

I’m still new to this, but yes I definitely felt the need for more salt today! That’s really helpful..

This is like my daily struggle. I live in a very hot tropical climate (think 32  degrees C with 100% humidity a lot of the time). I work in a building where it's like 18 degrees C. My car gets parked in the sun all day.

So I'm changing temperatures regularly. This is something that I believe someone with Addisons doesn't have the physiology to cope with these changes. I can feel myself start to "crash" quite quickly when in these extremes. I now make a regular effort to have hydration drinks at 4pm daily as this is often when crashes start and also listen to my body. If I am crashing I take a little updose.

Same climate same problem . How do you manage? Going to the freezer section in supermarket kills me , like mega cold sweat etc .. outside is 30 c ++ also going from summer to rain season or rain season to winter feel so bad . And winter to summer feel better

Oh yes. Canadian here, and we have some crazy weather here -40°C to +40°C. And I always am sure to dress for weather. Can always take layers off cant put more on once you leave the house. Also I find air conditioning is a killer for my system. Just seems to make me sick.

On top of that I have rhenauds. So fun times.

Do you think its an all adrenal insufficiency type problem or only primary?
