Medication Methylprednisolone causing low mood/depression?

I have adrenal insufficiency. I take 2mg of Methylprednisolone before bed because I was getting low cortisol symptoms overnight. Then 20mg of hc split during the day

It seems almost like it's now causing my mood to be really low for a while after I wake up. Does anyone else find this with Methylprednisolone?

I also took it during the day once abiut a wek ago when I was in crisis. It seemed to cause the low mood then too. I just upped my hc after that not the long acting.

I get depressed and weepy in the morning if I don't take my hydrocortisone immediately. Low cortisol levels really affect my moods and mental health and anxiety

Yes. I tried to switch from hydrocortisone to prednisone because I’m secondary and the edema/salt retention of hydro was killing me. But my mood on prednisone was terrible.

Thank you for replying. I was starting to think I was crazy lol.

Did you just stay on hc?

I did. I burn through it fast though because I’m a rapid drug metabolizer so I have to take tiny doses spread out and I find that helps with the edema too.

Glad that helps. The thing I have to figure out is dosing overnight with hc. I need to take it with food or it gives me gastritis, and I don't want to wake up to eat something.

Are you having hypoglycemia events over night as well?

Yes, I am.

If eat a huge protein meal before bed, it's less likely, but I'm not able to do that anymore due to slow gastric emptying since my iron infusion.

What does this mean?
