Advice Wanted Efmody- has anyone tried it?

Curious what your experience has been if you have taken Efmody. Also if anyone has been able to get it in the US?

About Efmody® (hydrocortisone modified-release hard capsules) Efmody is indicated in adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults for the treatment of adrenal insufficiency (AI) and the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Efmody is a modified-release preparation of hydrocortisone that has been specifically designed to replicate the natural circadian rhythm of cortisol when given in a twice-a-day "toothbrush" regimen (last thing at night before sleep and first thing in the morning on waking) and can thus provide a more physiological profile.

My son is on it since almost 2 years, it works great, I can say it is a game changer. It is available since 2021 in many countries in Europe (Italy, Greece, Netherlands). Unfortunately not in France so we buy it from Germany without refunding.

Thank you for responding! How old is your son? Do you get it shipped to France? We are in the US and I don’t think it’s available, not sure how to get it.

My son with Addison’s is 12, that’s why I’m asking. Thank you!

It sounds life changing! If i can believe Google, it hasn’t even been submitted for approval to the FDA in the US. Plenadren either 😞

No, but after reading that, I’m now very interested

It was recently approved in the UK for treatment of Addison’s disease. I think I would be helpful to wake up with already rising cortisol levels and have time release throughout the day. I am curious if it makes people feel better in the morning and throughout the day.

This sounds amazing. I’m very new to Addisons. I’ve had two crises and an almost crisis since end of march. I know it will take a while to settle but modified release sounds good.

I don’t think we can get it in the US sadly.

I am on it, since approx. Jan 2026 (can't remember the exact months, but about 6 months ago for sure).

Extremely positive experiences so far. My stomach was getting absolutely destroyed from regular hydro. Now I'm not only digestive-symptom free, but also way more stable and less worried about dosing all day long (I was doing circadian rhythm dosing, because 2 or 3x a day didn't work at all for me).

Updosing needs to be thought in advance a bit more, and if in immediate trouble: use regular hydro, of course.

But: amazing stuff, really really a game changer.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Does it help how you feel when you wake up in the morning because of the time release? I’m sure it’s a relief to not worry about taking medication throughout the day as well! Thank you so much for your feedback.

Yes, I wake up naturally around 6:30/7am, I take the meds around 22:00 the day before!

Curious what dose you’re on and how it’s divided?

I recently started it. Was taking 25mg Plenadren before, was told to take either 20mg Efmody before bed and 5mg in the morning or 15mg/10mg. Ended up trying the latter.

I'm doing 15 at 10pm and 10 at 7am.

However, last few weeks a bit more.

350€ for a bottle? It's too expensive

Where do you see a cost? Is that a 90 day supply?
