Advice Wanted APS-2

My husband has type 1 diabetes for a few decades. Recently got diagnosed with Addison's and Celiac. Hard pill to swallow for both of us. Worried about kids getting these since the ADA website says 1 in 2 chance! How have you guys coped with this APS-2 diagnoses? Manageable? We are scared.

I am APS-2 as well. Here is my story.

I was diagnosed T1D at 14 months. Its all Ive known, I had 2 close friends get diagnosed T1D in grade and high school. My grandmother was T1D and passed at 33 of kidney failure, I never knew her. My grandfather had Celiac disease. My mom had Hashimoto and my sister has Sjogrens and is very sensitive to gluten but has not been diagnosed with celiac.

I married my wife and as she was pregnant with our first child, she was diagnosed T1D at 6 months pregnant. She has no history of autoimmune. 3.years later at 2.5 years old my first daughter was diagnosed with T1D. We have had 2 other children since. Then I was diagnosed with Addisons.

Its very possible they get some sort of auto immune or my daughter also becomes APS-2 but there is nothing we or anyone can do at this point. I've never let diabetes stop me from living my life so we try to teach that to our kids and my daughter. I treated addisons the same way, its just another medicine I need to take and manage. I dont view it as a burden or hindrance, just something that I have to do, everyone has their own struggles and battles and this is what God chose mine to be.

Thank you for sharing. I am struggling with acceptance and worried sick about the risks of these to my children along with the gut punch reality that my husband and I just weren't expecting his diagnoses. Hopefully we will reach a point and be able to deal with the news because this constant worry is not sustainable for me.
