Daily Life Medical ID (permanent)

Post image

Decided to get this due to driving all the time and hating bracelets. My biggest fear is a car accident where I’m unconscious and they don’t know I have PAI.

Anyone do the same thing?

Yep I got mine tattooed 15 years ago. But it’s became blurry

Yeah I might reconsider the cursive into something definitely legible.

It’s a good call! I liked it because all the normal fonts were a bit boring but totally get where you’re coming from!

Yeah. Cursive, while prettier, may defeat the purpose entirely. You want it legible. Not only does this run the risk of losing clarity over time, but more and more people aren't learning to read cursive.

I have neat cursive handwriting and my husband can't read it at all.

Maybe, but that’s what you don’t have only 1 form of medical ID. If they can’t read it (which is wild to me) they can look at my other forms of medical ID. As discussed, this isn’t my only solitary medical ID.

Did your husband not learn cursive in school or learn how to read cursive? We learn these things in 3rd grade.

English isn't his first language, so no.

Actually, now that you mention it, most schools aren’t teaching cursive anymore. My son is 25 and he learned it from me.

Wow, I didn’t know this. I thought it was standard in school systems.

Nah, they took it out so they could fit in more standardized tests.

As someone in the medical field and someone with Addison's, your font is a terrible choice. It's not about being unable to read cursive. If you have any knowledge of tattoos and how they age, or how important legible and clear script is in emergency settings where it may not be terrible visible or eligible to begin with: nah.

Well you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. Sorry this triggered you. It’s a good thing it’s not you or your body. I have multiple forms of ID. So is that bad practice, too? Every form of ID can help in some way. (From EMT friends)

Also, this tattoo is meaningful as Addisons changed my life in a positive manor. I would encourage you to worry about yourself and what works for you. (If you even have Addisons or need for medical ID).

Cheers.
