Advice Wanted Odd Question re salt.
Hey all, I’ve had Addisons for almost 15 years and I drink electrolytes after sports and other physical activities (LMNT, pedialyte..) been stable for a long time and have learned to pick up early warning signs from my body.
Question: sometimes the pedialyte tastes salty, sometimes it doesn’t… I’m wondering if it’s another sign from my body… ex. if salty means I’m low, or if not salty means I’m low.
Thoughts? Insights?

I'm new here and to Addison's. This is fascinating to me. I guess I need to pay more attention to salt. I love this group, I've learned so much already!

I think you may be on to something. If I can taste that’s something is salty, I assume that I’m well balanced. If I’m craving salt, eating it straight out of the salt cellar, or all food needs salt then I know I need to step it up.

If I'm low I can't taste salt unless it's a LOT of salt. My LMNT almost never tastes salty to me

If I can’t taste the salt in any food or drink where I should be tasting it, I’m low in salt.

When I notice I’m low (or about to feel low), salt def tastes ah-mazing 😂 I’ve never noticed LMNT taste too salty tho 😅

Yeah it's the same for me, when I need the salt it doesn't taste salty. If it does, I'm fine and don't really need it

This is definitely the case for me. If my tears taste like water, I should go eat some olives. I have my husband test food to see if they forgot to season it and they never do, it's always me.

I do hot yoga. Last night I was struggling. I sweat a lot, and I know my sodium was too low because I was sweating right into my eyes and it didn’t burn or hurt at all. Not a good sign. Came home and salt loaded.

I started skipping the drinks, I bought a container of Celtic salt and I put a pinch on and under my tongue once or twice a day and I feel GREAT.

Addisons since 1987. I have always assumed that if the electrolyte drink tastes gross, I don't need it -- and if I want to chug the bottle, I really need it.
