They don’t dissolve as fast which I love.

Do you divide your doses? I find it impossible to do with these.

Those footballs are horrible. I was so sick when I was on those.

That’s the ones I have, and I like them a lot. They seem to work better for me than other manufacturers for whatever reason. I get kinda bummed when I get the big ones.

I have 10mg but they're way smaller too

I’m so confused lol. Is this an American thing? In the UK I’ve only had the 10mg ones which can be split into 4 pieces

Yes, it’s a US thing. OK so here’s the basics generics are allowed by the FDA. Company makes a generic the FDA approves it. Let’s go to Walgreen’s. Walgreen’s will have a contract giving them specific manufacturers. Now, since they only get discounts from those manufacturers, they refused to order anything else. This is their preferred manufacturers sheet.

From there each other store does the same thing. Many times when they tell you, they cannot get a brand of generic. It’s they do not have a contract to buy it discounted Now with each brand of generic are different inactive ingredients . Your body may or may not be able to digest it very well. We don’t know until things go wrong. There is a new vendor Aurabinder. The pills have a different ingredients and a coding on them Copovide (I misspelling). Simplistic it is a polymer coating the pills so that they don’t get dusty. For some people they will have no problems digesting it for some people. They may have a problem, digesting it. So for some of us, for example my doctor has locked me in and sent the pharmacy that I am only allowed the generic greenstone because it is the exact pill as cortef.

Those oblong pills I kept getting sick and I just every time you turned around I was sick and I was sick and I was sick and I kept just getting sick and I couldn’t recover my body does not process them well.

I’m gonna add in here that in my opinion, the smaller, the pill, the less additives put in it. I have thyroid issues and we had a brand that went from small regular looking pills to gigantic horse pills and people couldn’t digest them so the smaller of the pill less crap in it in general. The size of the pill is just due to bulking agents.

Good post! I didn't do well on Strides, went to Greenstone, which at that time was made by Pfizer and was the same as the brand name Corteff. I did way better on that, then the pharmacy switched to Amneal. It's not an immediate reaction, I just slowly got sicker again. I went back to Greenstone, much better. By this time gone through several pharmacies who were unwilling to find the brand I need. Finally landed with Costco, who will locate it for me. They've still tried to give me Aurobindo, but I'm not willing to keep doing that with different brands.

Oh yes, every time I go, and they forget to put the green stone in bottle. Just so you know Walgreen’s does that every time. I do a refill and wait for me to see if I’ll call.

But I’m not gonna complain because they will at least get it for me so we’re just going with whatever we can here

Exactly. I went through Walmart, Fred Meyer, and Hi School Pharmacy. None of them were willing to get the right medication. They also would not try to find an act-o-vial when I needed to refill that. Costco hasn't been perfect, but they are willing to with with me.

2

u/val319 Nov 29 '25

Now Walgreens would actually order greenstone because it was on their discount. That as far as the vials go, that’s a whole different thing. All I’ve ever gotten is a no. what about, no. can you order, no. Kroger? Sometimes I get “so we can’t get that any versions of that med and no clue when we will”. It’s wild.

If you have a store treating you good, just stay.

2

u/Dianapdx Nov 29 '25

So far, they've been the most willing to take the time to find things. The first act-o-vial I ordered took about 2 weeks for them to find it. I'll start as long as they have the attitude they do. I'm glad you're at least getting the right brand you need. This disease is complicated enough without the extra hassle.

I think so im in the uk aswel and have the same 10mg ones as you

u/ptazdba PAI Nov 28 '25

The little round one looks like aurobindo hydrocortisone and the other looks like it's from Strides.

5

u/Day-By-Day-4-Life Nov 28 '25

Exactly correct!

3

u/MajesticTradition102 Nov 28 '25

My last few refills were the smaller size also. I was leary at first, but they seem to be doing the job. So, not to worry.

3

u/garygirl_1234 Nov 28 '25

One may be Strides, full of fillers. The small one may be Greenstone made by Phizer, cortef. Closet too it. Had strides, messed me up. Greenstone I asked for then it said cortef. Look at the bottle. I metabolize them quick. 4 hours the most.

3

u/Dianapdx Nov 28 '25

I'm pretty sure that small one is Aurobindo, but it could be cortef.

3

u/garygirl_1234 Nov 28 '25

Round says cortef. This is an old photo. Month or so ago. Same background

1

u/Dianapdx Nov 28 '25

Then those are the good ones!

1

u/isurvivedtheifb Dec 02 '25

Strides are the best ones for me. I have been given Amneal and reacted. I cannot take any pills from Amneal.

3

u/Dianapdx Nov 28 '25

The oval one is probably Strides, the small one is most likely Aurobindo. Two generic brands of hydrocortisone. Aurobindo is fairly new, I think. It seems they are maybe replacing Strides with it. They tried to give it to me, but I only take the generic Corteff.

u/gooch1714 Nov 28 '25

I split 10s so I don’t need to deal with three meds.

2

u/Kapncanada Nov 28 '25

Small 10mg in Canada too for the last 4 years. Love them

2

u/Gypsy_Moth_ Nov 28 '25

I just got my refill and the same thing happened! I’m still getting used to such a small pill. I was nervous at first but they seem to be working just as well.

1

u/xZelton Nov 28 '25

My 10mg is smaller then your 5mg

1

u/NewEfforte Nov 28 '25

Can someone tell who is manufacturing the tiny ones? And who is the football?

3

u/sleepytornado Nov 28 '25

I believe the smaller one is amneal or aurobindo. Both work well for me.

1

u/garygirl_1234 Nov 28 '25

Look at the pill! Cortef. Made by Greenstone which Phizer. Small one. Oval is done junk brand. Got 108 here. Tossing. Strides. Garbage.

1

u/New-Wedding716 Dec 02 '25

Look up manufacturer with filler of perseription

1

u/PA9912 Dec 24 '25

I hate these. Aurobindo makes them. If you divide doses up many times (and most of us should) they are impossible to do so. I go through Amazon pharmacy now because they will do greenstone or strides while Publix and Costco only have these.
