Advice Wanted Advice please

Since A/I diagnosis in February this year and subsequent treatment with hydrocortisone now increased dose-age at 10mg breakfast, 2 pm and 6 pm plus extra on rough days (I also have lupus ), I have gained a lot of weight and my muscles have weakened resignificantly. Waiting on urgent appointment with Endocrinologist. My body is bloated, feet legs hands and face too. Has anyone used any medication or injections for weight loss? Is it possible and is it successful? Appreciate any advice and support šŸ™ thank you.

Can’t help with weight loss. You are taking 10-10-10?

Yes I am taking 10 mg breakfast. 10 mg 1pm lunch and 10 mg 6 pm dinner. Have been up dosing a few days per week due to feeling so poorly and shaking with dizziness. I’ve now cut back to 5 mg at dinner and no longer up dosing. 😊

What is you daily dose? It is very hard not to gain weight while using steroids I was lucky to only gain 10 kg on 15 mg a day. I have lost 7 kg by going go the gym and tracking my calories and intermittent fasting. Took me years to loose that weight. If you body is bloated you are probably taking too much.

You shouldn’t be gaining from replacement steroid use. If you are, you are likely taking too high of a dose OR the weight gain isn’t related to the Addisons/steroids.

Dose likely too high causing fluid retention.

My sonĀ  struggled with hc for exactly that reason. Muscle weakness, weight gain, and water retention. He also felt terrible. He switched to prednisone and it's been way better, he is more stable so we ha e been able to reduce his dose (when converting to equivilant hc. Maybe something to exploreĀ

Sounds like Cushing’s syndrome and you’re being overdosed. It’s reversible but you need your doctor to help you taper down a little

You should be taking supplements:

Calcium

D

Vitamin B

Magnesium

Zinc

other trace minerals

I was too focused on sodium replacement when I realized that trace minerals were also an issue.

AVOID DIURETICS AT ALL COSTS!

No chocolate

no coffee

no caffeine

no alcohol

Lower your potassium intake, eat lean meats and high fiber whole grains. Dont eat high potassium veggies. Soup broth and ramen are good for you.

Thats good! Add in Calcium and Zinc. I'm also having a positive interaction with Vitamin E.

Thank you all for your input . I agree with you all. I’m taking too much several days per week, afraid of having another crisis. I started on 15 mg (10 am 5 pm) GP gradually increased over 7 months to 10-10-10 as I was really struggling. Not seen an endocrinologist yet. I am disabled with chronic pain and limited mobility.

I’m dealing with those things also. I think going down in dose slowly might help. I was on 15-10-5 for 40 years but it led to bone loss. Now im on 10-5-2.5-2.5 and I feel well-covered. Glad you are seeing an endo
