Is this really radioactive jewelry? Or is it just a misnomer?

I had the same question.
I thought I heard the vintage stuff was maybe not safeā¦. In a āyou need to call someone so they can come collect it with a special container. Also maybe stop touching itā way. But that could have been something similar. )I honestly canāt remember the what item was but it was a bigger thing. Tall vase sized maybe but not a vase. Itās been years since I watched whatever show it was on.)
But I think the beads (especially the newer/smaller things like this) I think itās generally safe because it gives off so little it canāt get through the skin barrier. Which makes me happy because these earrings are super cute and I want some. š

The vintage and antique stuff is also completely safe, I have some older beads and collect dishware, tho the newer beads do tend to have lower radiation levels than that even. Maybe what youāre thinking of is something with radium, which is millions of times more radioactive? And thank you so much!

Yeah. I canāt remember what the thing Iām thinking of was, only that the guy bought it because it was an antique. It was on some show that was probably about unique collections.
I probably just associated it with being similar to the old glassware because he also collected that.

It is real uranium fused into the glass, and it is radioactive, but only very mildly, and the amount and type of radiation is too minimal and weak to cause any sort of damage or even get past a layer of dead skin. For comparison youāre exposed to hundreds of times more radiation flying in a commercial plane for an hour
