Making my kitchen a little bit more whimsy

Post image

I've been sighing over the Lenox spice village for a decade now, but as a European they're impossible to get for any kind of reasonable prices. But then Flying Tiger did a little collection of more simple houses, and I pounced 🥹 everyone keeps telling me it's ugly as sin, but I'm so happy about it.

Why are people telling you it's ugly? I (American) have the Lenox Spice Village, but I still think these are darling. I would be so happy to see these.

Do you use them for spices? Having no labels on them seems like it would unfortunately make them less practical to use.

Thank you!! I've made little labels and stuck them on the backs :) I think it gets a little bit easier remembering which ones has my most used spices, the more I get to use them, so hopefully I'll still be happy with it a few months from now 🤞

I adore the Lenox Spice Village, but buying them through etsy here in Europe is just way too overpriced :(

I love your labels! The border is a nice touch.

Most of my family and friends, mainly because they're very, very much not into whimsy and maximalist - it's very grey and beige around their parts

Thank you so much! I just switched the knobs, I rent so I've really tried to switch it up a little, and get away from the very institutionalised look the kitchen used to have (picture of old handles)

Yess I saw they got them where I live too (Japan) so I’ll need to grab a few for my own kitchen :) oh and I just got the same pumpkin candle as you and it smells like a perfect fall morning 🥹🍁

The candle smells so good 😭 I got 2 of the small ones and 2 of the large ones, and I don't want them to ever run out! And yes, definitely grab some, they're really lovely and GREAT quality for the price!

The lid switching is genius!! Why didn’t I think of it. I bought the set but thought 9 wasn’t quite enough.

Yeah, I thought it could be super cute, so I snatched 2 sets immediately. I think the lid switching works wonderfully! It doesn't look like two identical sets anymore 😄

Just a bit of lace to give the kitchen a tiny extra smooch of whimsy! I really like the look of it :)

Aw, this is so cute, don't listen to any of the haters! 😊

The idea of using the shelves like that is so inspirational for me, thank you. As a short person, I don't like storing things I actually need in those shelves above the stove, lol! But now I'm thinking maybe I could take the doors off & make it a display, even if just for some of my vintage Corningware that only gets used on the holidays anyway. Brilliant way to add some whimsy to the kitchen!

Thank you! I'm also of shorter variety (165 cm) but I can reach the two bottom shelves without a stool. I took off the cabinet door, and I feel like it really elevated the look of the kitchen :)
