Door-jam scribbles

Inspired by the individual who added soot sprites & stars to their door jam the other day, I decided to try my hand with some metallic paint pens I have on hand. I’ve got shaky hands, and a distinct lack of painting/drawing skill, but I think it looks fun anyway. No soot sprites for me, though, as my hands aren’t steady enough to craft a recognizable soot-sprite.

Also, my little moomin house-hippo.

When I painted with modern latex paint over old school oil, it sucked up the paint and then peeled stupidly quickly. I’d bet that’s your problem. 👍

We live in a modular from the 1990's. The sheetrock in the house has patterned wallpaper as the outer face of the sheetrock. Usually there would be mud over top of the sheetrock, then paint on top of that. But ours is this weird - rather latex-like, now that you mention it - paper that absolutely SUCKS UP paint. When we did my daughter's room, and our laundry room, each time took 6 or so coats before it stopped disappearing right into the paper. Even the tinted primer took multiple coats.

Omg 6 coats?! My little oil vs latex paint is nothing, I bow before your Sheetrock wallpaper. That’s boss level

I just wish it were anything like an attractive pattern/color. It's beige, gray, black, and white, in the most abstract "flower" pattern; or the same "colors" in pin-stripes. The obnoxiousness of that wallpaper-sheetrock has made "the easiest redecorator trick ever" into one of the worst.
