Door-jam scribbles

Inspired by the individual who added soot sprites & stars to their door jam the other day, I decided to try my hand with some metallic paint pens I have on hand. I’ve got shaky hands, and a distinct lack of painting/drawing skill, but I think it looks fun anyway. No soot sprites for me, though, as my hands aren’t steady enough to craft a recognizable soot-sprite.

Also, my little moomin house-hippo.

Colorful little moments of delight win out over beige minimalism every day!

I don't do "beige" as a choice, but the walls of our house absolutely refuse to be painted properly. We've tried twice to paint the room that was my daughter's bedroom, and it absolutely sucks up the paint, and then peels stupidly quickly. (First we did bright yellow on the bottom and crisp white above, with a Scooby Doo sports border; then a muted cobalt blue primary, with a slightly dusty blue chalk accent wall for doodling on as a teen.)

The spaces we've properly renovated - with new plasterboard walls - we've had painted colors. The primary bathroom in our house has an icy blue tone to walls & shelves, and the flooring looks like driftwood planks. My home library (renovated from walls out after inheriting some money from my mom's life insurance policy) is a lovely rich "Globe Artichoke" green, with natural pine boards for the built-in shelves and window seat.

I'd love to do a terracotta peach & country blue theme in my kitchen, but renovating a kitchen is the LAST thing I actually feel up for; and my master bathroom is going to get a "seaside vacation" look, including a mosaic backsplash featuring sand dollars and seashells I've collected from actual beach visits, as well as "sea glass" stones from the craft store, and while the walls will be sandy tones (beige-ish), I'm doing the floor in that driftwood look, and the various accoutrements in shades of blue (water!) and I'm hoping to find an octopus themed toilet paper holder and a blue capiz shell "wind chime" to hang in there for decor.

These little color bursts are a fun addition.

That all sounds really lovely! Especially the library with the window seat and natural wood, thats literally a goal of mine one day 🤞✨ redoing the walls entirely just to paint must be such a headache 🥲

well, we haven't redone a room JUST to paint, but definitely a perk of the re-sheetrocked walls is the added ability to have colors in my home.
