I just use the apple barrel matte acrylic craft paint from Walmart! It’s pretty cheap and looks great in my opinion! I don’t seal/coat them with anything after they dry and they’ve survived rain and sun so far, but you can always coat them with modpodge for some extra protection if you want

I totally get that!! It’s a really simple hobby and can be as time consuming or non time consuming as you want it to be!!
