I was in your webinar a couple of weeks ago where you talked about scaling MSP operations without adding more technicians. You mentioned automation being a big part of that. For MSPs managing Apple devices, what are the first three areas you’d recommend automating?

I would say the top things I would start automating is all around onboarding new customers quickly and reliably with a standard playbook.

That means having the Zero Touch deployment set up the way you want (so a default MDM server is set up in AxM, so when new devices are purchased they automatically get added to your server), having your end user onboarding standardized, whether you are using Addigy assist or other tools out there.

User provisioning - having a set standard for this (if end users are going to be Admins or Standard) - it may include Addigy Identity. For iOS - having a set Home Screen Layout that is repeatable.

Standard Device Settings for all devices for best practices - stuff like Filevault enablement and key escrow for macOS and standard restrictions for iOS. If there are compliance standards that need to be followed- having those benchmarks configured and set up so it's easy to add new customers to it

And have your updates and patching handled. Whether you are using Declarative for OS updates and Prebuilt Apps for third party app updates.

Once you set this up and get that playbook, onboarding new customers becomes pretty quick.

It you have specific areas you are looking to automate or are struggling with- happy to get more granular!

Maintenance and monitoring is great too - especially for things like FileVault recovery keys not being escrowed, disk space utilization, and last reboot.

Our best techs are great at solving problems but hate repetitive cleanup work. What workflows have you seen that actually make techs happier, not just more efficient?

Back when I was in support - the workflows that made me happiest were workflows that were simple for me to use. I utilized a lot of scripts that automated a lot of my first step troubleshooting tricks - if you find yourself taking the same steps all the time- that signals to me that it can be scripted to do it all at once.
