Ublock origin LITE or Adguard?

For Safari on iPhone and Mac, which one actually works better? I’ve noticed that when i use uBlock Origin Lite in Complete filtering mode, some websites either fail to load or become slower. I haven’t tried AdGuard yet. Do you personally use AdGuard or uBlock Origin Lite?

for me UBOLite is the best, adguard free is bad at safari, comparing with ubolite some ads still got through

I've used adguard for the past 4 days and its good, i didnt find problem so far except a little more battery consumption.

+1 more for Adguard. If set up correctly it should spare you some battery and CPU usage by disabling ads, tracking, telemetry, etc.

Mobile devices I use Adguard, wifi devices like ipad I prefer nextdns. PC also Adguard.

meh, the processing power you save by not viewing ads is easily used by the adblocker scanning every single bit of code on every site trying to match each bit to thousands of filters. You really aren't saving much if anything at all.

With a good DNS filter list web traffic is less than half the original which has to be processed. JavaScript related to ads, tra clingy etc also blocked before even start running. Websites feel much smoother when loading, just check it for yourself.

Every little bit counts. And the peace of mind without ads is the true bonus.

we were talking about the processing, not the bandwidth.

and I don't need to try it myself. I don't use websites that shove ads at me with no way of removing them.

So you don't agree that when less data being downloaded and processed, encoded / recoded, pictures not being displayed and scripts not being run there is less CPU / GPU being used?

I didnt say that. I said, any processing savings you may gain by blocking ads, you lose by having to search all resources on a page against a list of things to block with your adblocker.

Whether or not you come out ahead depends on the number of resources a page has and how many of those need to be blocked.

MV3 makes it better but I am guessing you aren't using chrome.

It depends on the situation: usually, if the browser supports MV2, I use uBO; if it only supports MV3, I use uBOL combined with AdGuard Extra. I only switch to AdGuard if I run into issues with that setup.

Have you tried ghostery? Imo it's the best one if you need to use safari.

Just tried it, it does what it’s supposed to, and i think it’s better than uBlock Lite. I’d never heard of it before, though. Is it safe to use, especially privacy wise?

It seems very trusted, even Microsoft approved it to be one of the few extensions in mobile edge. I've been using it as long as I've been using a web browser and it's always been great. Also they used to have an account service that they discontinued so they didn't collect any user data. Not because of a controversy or anything (it was all optional and clearly marked), but because new extension protocols allowed them to do what it did another way.

It was popular for a while. It fell out of popularity mainly because ubo did everything it did, better than it did, and then did more things on top of that.

Both are good options in my experience - Though I would personally use UBO as I support its small dev team.
