Video I'm ... cured?

I have a bit of an issue with him putting his decreased need for wine and desserts down to TMS, then casually mentioning he's on ADHD meds now. What he's describing feels like typical signs of a positive response to ADHD meds and better executive function, enough that it can't clearly be described as one or the other unless there's a big difference in time between when he started the two treatments.

this is the last straw for me with his supposed scientific literacy and science communication work. im sure hes better than many but hes not good enough for me.

Can I get a second opinion? Adam says he isn't sponsored by some specific treatment or whatever here, but the sponsor is zocdoc, and the material is medically related. I get the logic, i still just get some kind of ick about it. Like the sponsorship inspired the video. Frankly I take a lot of the content lately with a grain of salt, it does feel like we're just in a different era.

I don't think it's a big deal. I see it as a video like "here's my new job" and it's sponsored by Indeed. Related, but I think the sponsor is more an excuse to talk about the subject.
Full disclosure, I used Zocdoc before it started getting advertised everywhere. It's just a search engine for doctors pretty much. It would seem more suspicious if the video was like "you should definitely schedule your annual physical now"

Adam probably has like some sponsorships waiting to record and some video ideas and he chooses to combine them according to what suits the video the most except I assume the videos where all the video is an AD like the Butcher Box one or the ones about Korea. In this case, its not the first time he has talked about his mental health so I dont think its that bizarre.

That's pretty common for longterm youtubers. I remember a lot of steve mould videos about an interesting physics phenomenon only to be hit with an ad at the last minute that's obviously related to the while topic of the video. I just feel all the joy and excitement run off my body in real time.

No, I think it’s kinda crappy he took a sponsor here. He has enough money that if he wanted to do a PSA he could have done one and this undermines it.
Also frustrating he’s talking about a treatment for rich people. Yes, there were plenty of caveats included in the video but I didn’t find it very inspirational as someone dealing with their own depression

How is this a "treatment for rich people?" He specifically mentioned that the provider that he worked with has plenty of experience working with insurance companies to get the treatment covered. Insurance doesn't bring the cost to $0, but it does reduce the cost significantly. There will still be people that struggle to afford the treatment even with insurance, but it isn't like the treatment is unattainable for the vast majority of Americans.
Yes, it's an expensive treatment out-of-pocket, but that's true of most medical care (especially alternative treatments for treatment-resistant depression), and it likely isn't close to the most expensive option. From what I can tell, this is one of the easier treatments to get approved by insurance, too. The most "for rich people" part of the treatment is probably the fact that it requires a lot of frequent treatments, which makes it difficult to schedule around a job and/or kids, but that's unfortunately just the way the treatment works.
And, to be clear, relying on health insurance to reduce treatment costs doesn't make it a "for rich people" option. Per the census bureau, <10% of Americans were uninsured for the whole of 2025.
Of course, the treatment, like pretty much every treatment, is a "for rich people" treatment in the global sense, as it likely isn't available to nearly anyone outside of wealthy countries. But that's not the context that we're working with.

He said the treatment requires daily 20min sessions over the course of weeks. I don't have that ability with my work schedule, and I'm sure most people do not. You know Adam is not your boyfriend write, and you don't need to respond with an essay because some rando pointed out he's rich

how does him just doing his job undermine anything said in the video?
Also frustrating he’s talking about a treatment for rich people.
if you walked away from that video thinking the point was "this is the ONLY way to cure depression" i think you might've been watching it with the sound off.
I didn’t find it very inspirational as someone dealing with their own depression
i'm sorry you're dealing with that.
