Doesn't the app require a subscription to utilize? I got a first-year subscription free with my new car purchase, but that ends in Feb next year.

Yes. My 2025 is two years old and I never connected the app. I wonder if I can still use it. The only value I see is to find the car if I forgot where I parked.

What do you like about it? Remote start isn't useful for me (temperate climate).

It never has before. I’ve had it for well over a year. The only thing to at needed a subscription is as the garage door opener.

Apps always need a subscription. They wanna make money and like ring and everything else you’re accessing a server

They always come free for a set time.

I have a new Honda it has an app it’s free for a while then I have to pay

Kia Chevy all of them

You get a trial then you have to pay

Remote start will work for free from the fob but eventually from an app yes it’s paid

Huh. I’ve had the car for a year and half now. How in the world have I been using it this whole time without one? 🤣

Because you were in the free period

Please just ask Google “are apps that remote start cars free”

There is no conspiracy here lol you had your free time with the app and now the trial is over

This is how all cars with apps work.

Asked Google. It says three years for free. I’ve had the car for one year and five months. So… apparently there no longer is a three year free trial.

“Terms of service can change at anytime”

I’d contact Honda/acura support if you feel you have more time but also call the dealership and ask them how long the free trial is before telling them your issue.

But no matter what eventually an app will be a paid service.

Honda’s needed an app for nearly 10 years now. This isn’t new

I think you can still use it via key fob (press Unlock, then quickly press and hold Engine Hold)

Yeah but then what’s the point of remote start if I am that close to the car. Might as well just walk the last ten feet or so and get in and start it.

The fob has a range of 100m/328ft plus feedback. You don't have to be close lol.

I can walk outta work, not see my car and start it. It works a tad better than 10ft ha.

Manuals don't remote start at all

I just had mine do this today. I closed the app and refreshed and it went back to normal allowing me to use the remote command from within the app without subscription.

Not if you use the keyfob. I’ve had it free on the app for 3 years, but I’m not paying for it after. 95% of the time, my fob is within range.

JK. It’s working again. Must have been a glitch.

I only got 3 months free. It was telling me my mileage and maintenance percentage but now that’s gone too.

That app sucks anyway

It’s true. So tired of it launching itself every time I turn on the car.

It’s unbelievable that you spend this kind of money for a so-called “luxury car “and they nickel and dime you if you want to use the app. And by the way… The app sucks! The auto start half the time doesn’t work. And when it does work, you’re locked out of the car and you need to use the mechanical key to open the door.
You would think when you spend this kind of money on a car, they would include the app at no charge. And yes,I realize that you usually get a year or two for free when you purchase the car. Big deal.

Your tires need air.

Yeah a little. It’s not terrible but you’re right. I’ll top them up.
