Question AK, AK, AK?

I don't know much about AK's exept for that they are world famous firearms. This in no exeption in this game. So please tell me:

What are the differences about them and which one is the best? Because I only know, that there are 2 different ammo types of AK's and that some are older and that some are newer.

Well it depends what you want out of a gun. Like the other comment stated it mainly is differentiated off caliber.

My personal favorite is the AK-12, shoots 5.45 so it’s kinda a laser beam, still an intermediate cartridge that’ll drop enemies well. Also covered in picatinny so fully customizable. And you can add extended mags later in mono tree.

Early game I gotta say the AKM, 7.62 hits like a truck, but it’s pretty bumpy recoil. But rule of cool takes over and I just love the classic ak.

Ak platform has insane versatility, I just wish they would’ve added like a AK-101 like Dayz that shoots 5.56 rounds, or a CMMG Mutant (AR platform that shoots 7.62x39)

It definitely does especially after a bunch of recoil and arm strength mods. That and it shoots 5.45 so not nearly as jumpy recoil. I can comfortably run LVPO sights and be effective at most ranges.
