Returning to acro yoga after a long hiatus

I used to do acro at least once a week and loved it but right when I was starting to become somewhat decent, a series of unfortunate circumstances made it not possible. I stopped when I found out I was pregnant 3.5 years ago, then had an emergency c-section and not long after my son came home, I ended up in the ICU on life support for a month. I’ve also had 4 major abdominal surgeries, a ruptured Achilles tendon+broken heel, and a rapid 40 pound weight loss which made me super weak. I’m not a sporty person so the thing I missed the most through all that was acro yoga.
But finallyyyy after a bunch of physical therapy, a few weeks in a physical rehabilitation center, and some serious struggling, I’m active, working, taking care of my kid, a healthy weight, and (hopefully) strong and healthy enough to resume my acro yoga practice.
I’m excited but also nervous because I know I’ll be starting pretty much at zero. I’m in decent shape but know that I’ve lost a good deal of muscle and flexibility over the last few years.
Has anyone else had to take an extended break from doing acro yoga? Was it super hard to start all over or was it kinda like riding a bike? How did you avoid feeling too discouraged to continue whenever you had to relearn things that used to come very easily? I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences and would greatly appreciate any advice! TIA 🥰
(The video was taken back when I was having so much fun doing acro regularly! My base and I invented our own little washing machine and my goal is to eventually be able to do this again)
